Electrical Frequently Asked Questions Are You Licensed? Yes we are - where we need to be. Let me explain. The Great State of Pennsylvania does not have a state-wide licensing program. Therefore, it is up to each individual township or municipality to determine if licensing is important to them. Many of them feel that trying to determine who is qualified and who is not is far more trouble than it's worth. So, no license is available in their township. CM Squared, Inc. goes through great pains to track all of this for you! For example, we are licensed Master Electricians in the City of Harrisburg, and are Registered Electricians in the township of Susquehanna, just to name a few. So the bottom line is: if they have a electrical licensing program in your township, we probably have it. Are You Insured? You better believe it! Remember when we were talking about licensing (stay with me now)... well, you cannot become licensed without insurance. Besides, we believe in protecting your interests (as well as our own backsides) should any unfortunate circumstances occur. Better safe than sorry! Do You Give Free Estimates? One of our Master or Journeyman Electricians would be happy to look at your project, hear your ideas, tell you a little bit more about our company & our services, and provide you with recommendations to make the project a little better. While visiting with you, he will take notes to prepare a quotation, which we will provide at no cost to you within a few days. We do not give estimates, because we are not in the business of guessing (see the circus swami or town oracle for that). Our quotations are firm for at least 20 days and will not change during that time unless you change the scope of your project. What Size Jobs Do You Do? We like doing all kinds of different size jobs - it breaks up the routine a little. We will be happy to discuss with you the really small job all the way up to the really large job. If the project is on the smaller size, we like to collect a couple of them, then spend an entire day going from job to job spreading good cheer and doing electrical work. Whereas, if your project is a larger one, it is important to us to coordinate with you so that we can schedule when you would like it completed. Can You Help Design the Electrical Plan? One of our favorite things in the whole world to do is work with you from the beginning of your remodeling or new construction project so that the electrical plan is just right. We find design exhilarting! We know that makes us a little odd, but since the two brothers who founded the company both have Electrical Engineering degrees, we'll use that as our excuse. The truth is, we find nothing more enjoyable then discussing a project, working out the many details, installing the plan, and then watching you enjoy it. Commercial, residential, new construction, remodeling, retrofit, rehabilitation... did I get everything? We do it all! Well, when you think about it, it is all electrical, and we are electricians after all. As they say: We are professionals, DO NOT try this at home. What Guidelines Do You Follow? Well, we mostly follow the Golden Rule: "Do onto others as you would have them do onto you." Oh, but you meant as far as as electrical work... now I gotcha. We follow the most recent edition of the National Electrical Code, which is updated every three years whether it needs it or not. In addition, some of the townships in Central PA have established minimum electrical requirements above and beyond the National Electrical Code. So, we follow those too. You can be sure that we will follow all of the guidelines out there in order to make sure your home or business complies with the most up-to-date requirements. I Have a Mess! Will You Troubleshoot My Problem?? Troubleshooting is an art form. As tradesmen we feel a certain kinship to the artist. So, yes, we will troubleshoot. We even promise not to tell all of your neighbors how you got yourself into the mess. It is only fair that we warn you... it is very difficult to estimate how long it will take to troubleshoot and correct the problem, since any number of things could be wrong. We can discuss this issue more eloquently once we've seen the 'mess' you have. How Far Will You Travel? Although we consider central Pennsylvania our stomping grounds, we have been known to venture outside of the mid-state area for projects that were really COOL. Rather then trying to guess if we will come to where you are, feel free to contact us and we'll let you know. How Do You Get THERE From HERE? Actually, it is not possible! You can never get 'there'. As soon as you get to what you think is 'there' you quickly realize that you are not 'there' at all. You are 'here'. So, you see, that old joke is, in fact, a fact.... "You can't get THERE from HERE."
